Dewitt Joe Pressley, 87, of Florence and formerly of Burnett Road, Greenwood, changed his address to heaven on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Doris Jean Weeks Pressley, 87, changed her address to heaven on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
Dewitt was born in Stevens County, GA, and was a son of the late Lyman David and Violet Dover Pressley. He retired from McGraw-Edison and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Dewitt was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he formerly served as the church treasurer, was a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He was also a member of Palmetto Street Church of God of Florence and Gideons International.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Pressley and Marvin Pressley.
Dewitt is survived by his brothers, Dewey Pressley (Marie) and Jerry Pressley (Linda), both of Greenwood.
Jean was born in Greenwood County and was a daughter of the late John Allen Weeks and Maggie Walker Weeks. She retired from Parke Davis. Jean was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she formerly served as a Children's Sunday School teacher, a member of the Women's Ministries and in the Prayer Group. She was also a member of Palmetto Street Church of God.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Scott and Virginia Rogers; and three brothers, Ralph Weeks, James Weeks and Billy Weeks.
Doris is survived by a sister, Nira Miles and a brother, Lester Weeks, both of Greenwood.
Dewitt and Jean were married for 64 years and together they have surviving a son, Tim Pressley (Susan) of Florence; grandchildren, Beth Bishop (Jeremy) of Spartanburg and Matt Pressley (Becky) of Chapin, who brought so much joy to their life. They gave them four great grandchildren, Callie and Jackson Bishop and Stetson and Caroline Pressley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Johnson and the Rev. Sherrill Green officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
