Diane
Lewis
Sep 3, 1949 — Jul 6, 2026
Janie Diane Faulkner Lewis, 76, widow of Vernon Wayne Lewis, her husband of 58 years, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Greenwood, September 3, 1949, she was the tenth of fifteen children born to Lindsey Carlisle "Cap" and Charity Johnson "Panmama" Faulkner. On June 2, 1967, Diane graduated Greenwood High School at 5 P.M. and was married to the love of her life at 7 P.M. that same day. Shortly thereafter, the two made their journey to California to follow Wayne's service with the U.S. Navy. Throughout her life, Diane had a strong work ethic and sense of ambition. Her first job was as a carhop for her father's restaurant. She was fired her first day for dropping food on her customers cars, but later went on to have a successful career in finance and whichever side endeavor she was pursuing at the time.
Diane was a constant source of love, humor, compassion, and humility in her very big family. Whether it be holidays, weddings, celebrations, or "just because," her home was the ever-open gathering place for family and friends alike. Diane was truly a person to give the shirt off her back. There was never a mouth she did not feed or a roof she did not provide to someone in need. Everyone always knew when they had nowhere to go or no one to turn to, they always had Diane. Because of her willingness and faithfulness, Diane is the place where so many of us found God.
Diane had many passions in life, but her simplest pleasure was having a good time. She loved good weather, good company, and good music. She loved to be with her family. She loved the Lord, her church, and her church family. She loved children, both hers and everyone else's. To know Diane was to love her. To know her was to know love. We are beyond grateful to have had the blessing and privilege of calling her "Mama" and "Nana."
Diane is preceded in death by four sisters; Audrey King, Joann Lester, Sandra Standridge, and Alice Miller; and six brothers; Billy, Jack, Larry, Kenneth, Michael, and Danny Faulkner.
Diane is survived by her children, Brandon (Raquel) Lewis and Kristy Lewis Pinson; her grandchildren, Brett Lewis, Joshua Pinson, Hailey Pinson, Cameron Pinson, Allie McClinton, and Bo McClinton; two brothers, Ronnie (Kathy) Faulkner and Gary Faulkner; two sisters, Faye Amick and Terry (Marion) Gilchrist; one of her best friends of sixty-four years, Mildred Reid; her fur-baby, Shiloh; and many friends, nieces and nephews she loved dearly, including a very special niece, Melissa Farmer.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chad Charles officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will Brett Lewis, Joshua Pinson, Mathew Farmer, Jimmy McInville, Gary Faulkner and Mark Falls.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Her family wishes to express their deepest, most sincere gratitude to Laurie Styron and Tricia Miller for the love, patience, and compassion they have demonstrated with Diane over the last several months.
