Richard "Dick" Eldon Fleming, 93, of Abbeville, SC, passed away August 2, 2025.
He leaves behind beloved family, friends and many great life memories.
Richard was born on October 10, 1931, in Hemet, CA to the late Eldon and Beatrice Fleming. He lived many years in Fallbrook, CA. After retiring from the State of California as a Dept. of Industrial Safety Inspector, he and his late wife, Pat Fleming, moved to McCormick, South Carolina in 2004. He enjoyed working outdoors, making leather bridles and repairing saddles, crafting beautiful wood pens, old western movies, and collecting antique irons. Richard proudly served his country in the US Army. He married Patsy in 2018 and they enjoyed traveling. Ireland was one of his favorite trips.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry. In addition to his wife, Patsy, he is survived by
his children Deborah Taylor, Donna Schoby, Alex Fleming (Christopher); his nephew Gerry (Lori); his grandchildren George Scott (Ashley), Tom Scott; his three great grandchildren Andrew, Addyson, Everett; her children Joel (Andie) Stephens, Warren Scott Stephens (Amy); and her grandchildren Olivia Stephens, Madison (Erick) Begitschke, Kallyn Rustan, Braeden Rustan, Garrett Stephens, Sidney Stephens, Blake Stephens, Lindsay (Tom) Nestor. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He loved living by the lake and enjoyed time spent swapping stories with his neighbor and dear friend, Neil Porath.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care he received at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.
