James Donald "Don" Merritt, 63, of 526 Reynolds Avenue, husband of Branda Merritt, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born at Patuxent River US Naval Air Station, MD, he was a son of the late Brandon Grant and Mary-Lee Anders Merritt. Don graduated from Charles County Community College in Maryland, where he majored in computer science. He was employed by Self Regional Healthcare as a senior systems engineer; a US Naval Reserve veteran; and attended South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children, Robert Charles Merritt (Mandy) of St. Mary's County, MD, Jennifer Merritt McGuire (Joseph) and Donald James Merritt (Tara Knox), both of Greenwood; stepchildren, Christopher Kemp and Jason Patton, Sr, both of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Patricia Brewer (Chris) of Travelers Rest, SC; brothers, William Evertt "Bill" Merritt (Ann) of St. Mary's County, MD, and David Grant Merritt (Ruby) of Slader Marietta, SC; grandchildren, Alisha Combs (Eric), Shane McGuire, Jason Patton, Jr., McKenzie Patton, Isabelle Merritt, Cole Merritt, Sophia Merritt; and one great grandchild, Aliyah Combs.

Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Bailey officiating.

Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Green Cove Springs, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
