Doris Seger Dominick Sandberg, 92, widow of Bruce LeRoy Sandberg, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Wesley Commons.
Born in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the Honorable Frederick Haskill Dominick, a former SC congressman, and Alva Seger Dominick. She was also a granddaughter of the late Honorable George N. Seger, who was a former US representative from New Jersey.
Doris grew up in Newberry but spent most of her life settled in Hodges, South Carolina. She attended Newberry College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then went on to earn a master's degree from the University of Virginia. Doris was a talented artist and worked as an illustrator for newspapers and department stores in her younger years. She was very active in the Daughters of the American Revolution - Ariel Chapter and the National Society of US Daughters of 1812. A woman of faith, she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and sang in the choir.
Along with her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Dominick Bartlett and brother-in-law, Carroll Bartlett.
She is survived by nieces, Alice Quinn and Doris Anderson; and nephew, Frederick Dominick Bartlett.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
