Dorothy "Dot" Vaughn Boone, 96, resident of NHC Greenwood, widow of Harold Boone, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Milton Vaughn and Sarah Ellen Hipp Vaughn. After the unfortunate passing of her mother at a young age Dot was raised by her loving step-mother Jessie Harden Vaughn. She attended Lander College. Following she moved to Winter Garden, Florida and was a telephone operator for many years retiring in the administration department of Sprint. Dot loved the Lord and her family dearly. She was a member of New Market Baptist Church, where she taught the Helping Hands Sunday School class. Dot loved dogwood flowers and enjoyed listening to Christian music, especially songs from the Cokesbury Hymnal.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Mask (Jimmie, Sr.); sisters, Mary Birchmore and Jo Nell Fallaw; grandchildren, Jimmie L. Mask, Jr. (India) and John H. Mask (Aynsley); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Harold she was preceded in death by her son, George W. Webb; sisters, Ruth Satterfield, Ruby Minor, and Harriet Dominick and brothers, Milton Vaughn, Willie Vaughn, and Calvin Vaughn.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at New Market Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.
