Dorothy Porter, 86, of Prosperity, widow of J. C. Porter went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at J F Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late "M. T." Milledge and Addie Roberts Beasley. Dorothy was a self-taught pianist and loved singing. She loved shopping, joy riding, loved her family and especially her Lord. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Allie Ray Porter; and siblings, Claude Beasley, Milledge Beasley, Louvenia Edwards, Annie Maye Powell, Sara Bryant and Joe Beasley.

Surviving are her children, Barry Edwards (Lynn), Patricia McBride, Joyce Gilbert (Eddie), Debra Shaw (George) and Millie Jenkins (Jerry); fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Luke.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023, at West Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Richter, Rev. Dan Grubbs and Rev. Hal Lane officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary.
