Dot McManus Whatley, 81 of Cayce, wife of J.B. Whatley, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, after many years of battling Alzheimer's.
Born on September 21, 1943, in McCormick, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Maxie McManus, Sr. and Jessie Bowick McManus. Dot graduated from Greenwood High School Class of 1961 and began working with State Bank and Trust in 1971 when her husband's job transferred him to Cayce. Thus began Dot's career in banking for over 30 years and eventually retiring from Wells Fargo.
Dot is survived by her husband, one month shy of 64 years; daughters, Deborah Whatley and Karen Folsom (Chris); grandchildren, Jenna Long (John), Jared Williams, Isabella and Emmerson Whatley; a great granddaughter, Brooks Long; a brother, Lonnie McManus Jr.; a sister-in-law, Irma Medlock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dot will always be remembered for cooking our Sunday meals and keeping this family tradition alive. We are thankful she never forgot us and we were able to still bring her home for Sunday meals. We find comfort knowing she is in Heaven rejoicing with her loved ones and grateful she is whole again.
Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Folsom officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 1-2pm.
