Douglas L. Dodgen,74, of 224 Barkwood Lane, husband of Sandra Young Dodgen, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hospice House.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ellis Owens and Lizzie Mae Edmonds Dodgen. Doug was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the National Guard for 25 years. He retired from Moore's Business Form and enjoyed entertaining with Dynamite Karaoke. Doug was a member of the Masonic Lodge – Eureka Lodge, Ninety Six, a past Masters of Mathews Lodge, and Greenwood Shrine Club, Hejaz Shrine and Clown Unit. Doug was also a member of Star Fort, where he was 2011 Star Fort Champion. He was a member of Ninety Six First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three daughters, Wanda Morse (Kyle) of Greenwood, Tina Sayer of Greenwood, and Amanda Colby Dodgen of the home; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Dodgen Peavey; two brothers, Marvin "Tut" Dodgen and Rayford Owens Dodgen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse and the Rev. Franklin McCoy officiating.
Honorary escort will be the members of the Panola Breakfast Group.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday.
