Earle B. Sumerel, 73, formerly of 210 Larkin Drive, widower of Patricia Jean Sumerel, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Saluda Nursing Center. Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late Ithial Benjamin Sumerel and Frances Ruth Hughes Sumerel. Earle retired from Stockman Oil Company where he was a fuel oil truck driver. He was of the Church of God faith. Surviving are three daughters, Ms. Linda Rowe of the home, Mrs. Tammy Buzhardt of Batesburg and Mrs. Kathy Dorn of Greenwood; a sister, Jane Alexander of Greenwood; three brothers, Wayne Sumerel and Marvin Sumerel, bothof Greenwood and Mike Sumerel of North Augusta; five grandchildren. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Minick. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Corey Reed, Justin Smith, Tony Minick and John McDowell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Marshall Road Church of God, PO Box 921, Greenwood, SC 29648. The family is at the home of his daughter, Kathy Dorn, 2619 Cambridge Road, Greenwood.
