Edna G. Chastain, 81, of 108 Panacea Road, wife of Curtis R. Chastain, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Hospice House. Born in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie T. and Evelyn Shetley Gonce. She retired from Greenwood Mills after 40 years of service, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church and attended Ninety Six Church of God. Edna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed her many friends from church and work. She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Lee Chastain, a son-in-law, Jimmy Hancock and a sister, Naomi Scott. Surviving in addition to her husband of 62 years are two daughters, Gayle C. Beagen and her husband, Larry, of Ninety Six and Rita C. Hancock of Greenwood; a son, Rick Chastain and his wife, Lois, of Ninety Six; a sister, Glenda Rauch of St. Augustine, FL; three brothers, Bobby Gonce of Ninety Six, Tommy Gonce and Lonnie Gonce, Jr., both of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Jody Patterson and his wife, Laurie, Tyler Chastain, Caitlin Chastain and Leslie McCormack and her husband, Lee; two great grandchildren, Chandler Patterson and Carter Patterson. Pallbearers will be Jody Patterson, Tyler Chastain, Chandler Patterson, Mark Chastain, Mickey Goodman and Lee McCormack. Honorary escort will be Terry & Glenda Chastain, Dale & Lynn Jones, Sam & Bobby Sue Larkins, Margie Gibson, Ray & Frances Kidd, Donna Bell, Pat Walden, Inga & Don Moore, Juanita Goldman, Juanita Wilson and Sue Bailey.
