Obituary

Eleanor Dantzler Rogers, 89, former resident of Orangeburg died Tuesday, January 05, 2010 at Wesley Commons Health Center in Greenwood, SC. Born in Orangeburg County, she was the daughter of the late M. Lee Dantzler and Daisy Bozard Dantzler and the widow of Leon P. Rogers to whom she was married for 44 years. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Mrs. Rogers was a former member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Orangeburg for 40 years and St. Mark United Methodist Church in Greenwood where she made her home for the past 10 years. A homemaker who received tremendous joy from her church and most of all her grandchildren was known as a fantastic cook who had a passion for gardening and fresh flowers. The unselfish manner in which she lived her life made her a role model for all who know her. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Rogers Hook and husband, Louis of Greenwood; a son, Harold L. Rogers and wife, Debbie of Clinton; two grandchildren, Stephanie Hook of Bolinas, CA and Brian Hook and wife, Shannon of Greenwood; two great granddaughters, Haven and Evey and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Commons Assisted Living and Health Care for their kindness and loving care over the past four years. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greenwood, Po Box 242, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to Wesley Commons Resident Support Fund, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, SC 29646.
