Elise Starnes Carroll, 86, of 1604 Highway 72 West, widow of Lonnie G. Carroll, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Woodruff, she was the daughter of the late Jonie W. and Ila Eubanks Starnes. Elise was employed by Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant and was a Hostess at Wometco. During WWII, she went to California to work for Douglass Aircraft Company to build airplanes for the war effort and was a member of New Covenant Tabernacle. Surviving are a son, Ronnie Carroll, Sr. and his wife Joette of Greenwood; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Danny Doolittle, Merrill Doolittle, Bob Corley, Louie Murray, Jon Morgan and Ron Carroll, Jr. Memorials may be sent to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
