Elizabeth Gertrude Hamlett Cook, 81, 617 Davis Street, widow of Sylvester Eugene Cook, Jr., died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James Oliver Hamlett and Reba Gertrude Brown Hamlett. Elizabeth retired from Monsanto and the Index Journal. She was of the Lutheran faith. Surviving are five children, Billy (Frances) Cook, Dewey (Carol) Cook, Dennis Cook, all of Greenwood, Alvin (Betty) Cook of Lexington, KY and Cathy (Lanny) Bryant of Lincolnton, GA; a brother, Joe Donald (Wilma)Hamlett of Easley; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steven Bradberry, Edward Roberts, David Lawson, Mark Olivares, Todd Dover and Ashley Andrews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hospice House, 408 West Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home of her son, Dewey Cook, 109 Quail Run, Greenwod.
