Elma Ramsuer Rankin, 82, of 102 College Park Drive, widow of Leonard Earl Rankin, died on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her home.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Ramsuer and the late Eva Pollock Lampkin. Elma was a former paper carrier with the Index Journal where she was also an area counselor that assisted with training new carriers on their routes. When she turned 50, she was proud of herself for attending Lander University and receiving her associates degree in Psychology. She was a volunteer with Hospice, enjoyed working at Bowers Rogers and was also guardian ad litem. Elma was a member of Greenwood Church of Christ and attended the Church of Christ in Clinton.
Surviving are daughters, Susan Higdon of the home and Sandra Hill of Woodruff; six grandchildren; Barbara Higdon (Ronnie Patterson), of Clinton, Richard Hill of Woodruff, Jennifer Derrick and her husband, Phillip, of Greenwood, Mary Elizabeth McAllister and her husband, Daniel, of Woodruff, Joshua Hill of Greenville and Michael Killingsworth (Brittany Padgett), of Clinton; and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday at Church of Christ in Clinton, with the Rev. Jerry Harris officiating.
