Obituary

Elmer Frederick Schaible, 88, of 1110 Marshall Road, widower of Nora Chipman Schaible, died on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Hospice House. Born in Roselle Park, NJ, he was a son of the late Rudolph F. and Lillian Marie Kramer Schaible. Elmer was a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in electrical engineering, retired from General Electric and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the chancel choir, served on the Finance Committee, participated in activities of the Main Streeters Adult Fellowship and served as the scorekeeper for Main Street�s Softball Team. Elmer was active all of his life � enjoying golf, skiing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He often shared his musical talents of singing and playing the clarinet at Wesley Commons. He volunteered his time for various organizations, including Brookgreen Gardens near Pawley�s Island, Habitat for Humanity and Wesley Commons. Surviving are his children, Barbara Burke (David) of Jersey Shore, PA, Robert Schaible (Terry) of Winchester, VA and Nancy Keisman (John) of Luling, LA; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookgreen Gardens, PO Box 3368, Pawley�s Island, SC 29585; Wesley Commons, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
