September 5, 1938 – January 27, 2023
Elmer Leonard Spach, 84, formerly of Crystal, Michigan, beloved husband of Mabel Nestle Spach, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Born in Flint, Michigan, he was a son of the late Homer Leonard Spach and Lucille Adelle Kovarik Spach. Elmer was raised in Crystal, Michigan, where he attended grade school and graduated in 1956. In his early teens, Elmer began learning the electrical trade by working with his father (Homer), specializing in TV repair. For over 30 years, Elmer was sole proprietor of Crystal TV & Appliance. He was the main electrician, selling and repairing appliances, which was one of the few appliance stores in the area. Elmer was always available to help others in Crystal and the surrounding areas. He was called the “Go to Guy”. Elmer was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting, playing guitar, and restoring anything with a motor. Elmer was an excellent mechanic and loved working at the drag strip. He was a former member of Crystal Congregational Church. He was active in the masons, joining the Crystal Masonic Lodge #285 on July 17, 1961. He became a 40-year lifetime member in 2010. Elmer was a very loving and caring father! Dad, we LOVE you so much and miss you dearly!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Daniel Ray Spach and Shane Leonard Spach; and a brother-in-law, James Warthman.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years are his daughters, Brenda Spach and Danette Gannon (Shawn); two sisters, Beverly Link (Ron) and Janet Warthman; brother, Glen Spach (Dolores); grandchildren, Seth Edward Spach, Luke Thomas Spach, Charity Margaret Schwegman (RJ), Jennifer Jean Ringle and Jessica Lee Konopka (Eric), Silas Leonard Spach, Sarah Leah Spach-Waidelich (Nick), and Shelby Rae Spach; daughter-in-law, Pam Spach; sisters-in-laws, Betty Nestle and Norma Nestle; eleven great grandchildren; and best friends, Drew, Mary Jo & Jeff Sayers, Shirley Dukes and her late husband, Ron Dukes.
