Emily Sorrow Pruitt, 84, of Greenwood, widow of Charles Burts Pruitt, Jr., passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Daniel Washington Sorrow and Mary Carter Sorrow. Emily was an administrative assistant for Capsugel for over 44 years before retirement. Additionally, she was a talented artist who had a special gift for creating one-of-a-kind greeting cards and books with whimsical poems and art. She was a member of Greenwood First Assembly, where began playing the piano and organ at the age of fourteen and continued playing for 60 years.
She is survived by her children, Robin Lawrence (Rikki), Karen Davenport, and Charles Daniel Pruitt (Porter); and grandchildren, Amy Livingston (Steven), Haley Lonergan (Drew), Charlie Pruitt, and William Pruitt.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Brown; a brother, Marion Thomas Sorrow; son-in-law, Richard Davenport; and a cherished dog, Rigby.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Greenwood First Assembly with Jerry and Connie Rentz officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
