Ewell Emmitte Balchin, 78, of 102 Patrick Road, entered into rest on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Hospice House. Born in Elberton, GA on September 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Clarence and Belle Yeargin Balchin. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Greenwood Mills. Emmitte was an exceptionally good natured husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Vivian Alene Dorn Balchin; a son, Tony Randal Balchin of Ninety Six; two daughters-in-law, Marcia Brewer Balchin, wife of Tony, and Dana Balchin Henderson, widow of Denny; a granddaughter, Amy Balchin Farmer of Epworth; three grandsons, Denny Ray Balchin, Jr. of Chesterfield, David Michael Balchin of Greenwood and Thomas Brandon Balchin of Hartsville; three great grandchildren, Savannah Grace Farmer, William Eason Balchin and Madyson Grace Balchin; four sisters, Mary Miller and Clara Scott, both of Saluda, Betty Price of Ninety Six and Linda Balchin of Greenwood and a brother, James Balchin of Ninety Six. He was preceded in death by a son, Denny Ray Balchin, Sr. and a granddaughter, Dawn Elizabeth Balchin.
