Essie Newton Minor Harrison, 98, of Greenwood, widow of Joe M. Minor, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lula Hitt Newton. She was employed by Greenwood Mills for over 40 years. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, where she was a charter member of the Senior Women's Sunday School Class and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her daughter, Thelma Westberry of Greenwood; grandchildren, Debbie Waters, Curtis Westberry (Connie), Susan W. Grubb (Todd), Dianne Butler (Jeff), and Joe Westberry (Debbie); great grandchildren, Jeremy Hallback, Julie Phillips (Sean), Jennifer Waters-White (Bobby), Jamey Westberry, Kasey McCall, Brandi N. Steadman, Alexis Butler, Grant Butler, Kayla Westberry, Brittany Davenport (Kenny), Ashley Westberry, and Joshua Westberry (Andrea); and twenty six great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James N. Westberry and a grandson-in-law, Freddie Waters.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Richter and Rev. Hal Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Westberry, Greyson Brown, Tyler Conner, Jordan Westberry, Barry Jacks, Bobby White, Jeremy Hallback, and Jamie Westberry.

Honorary escort will be Curt Westberry, Joe Westberry, Jeff Butler, and Todd Grubb.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
