Estelle Long Young, 93, of 1110 Marshall Road, formerly of 230 East Cambridge Ave, widow of Otis Samuel Young, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Hospice House. Born in Ware Shoals, she was the daughter of the late George Wiley Long and Margaret Ivester Long. Estelle retired from Greenwood Mills-Mathews Plant and was a member of Durst Avenue Church of God where she was a member of the choir. She was also a former Sunday school teacher at Cambridge Apartments. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Blanche Carroll, Adelle Shedd and Gladys Weathersbee; and by a daughter, Nancy Michaels. Surviving are two sons, Charles Lee Young and his wife, Sharon, of Montgomery AL and Rainbow City, AL and Jerry Young and his wife, LaVenia of Greenwood; a son-in law, Bill Michaels of Greenwood; three daughters, Dorothy Lybrand and her husband, Kerry, of Chapin, SC and Nell Simpson and her husband, J. W., of Greenwood; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
