Ethel Messer Floyd, widow of Richard Clark "Dick" Floyd, Jr., passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, just one day shy of her 92nd birthday.

Born in Abbeville, Ethel was a daughter of the late Garland "W.G" and Emma Lunsford Messer. She was known for her kind spirit and generosity, particularly in her kitchen. She had a remarkable talent for cooking, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. Her meals were a testament to her love for family and friends, who often gathered around her table to share laughter and stories.

A devoted Christian, Ethel found strength and solace in her faith. She was an active member of Coronaca Baptist Church, where she shared her passion for nature and enjoyed participating in community activities. Her commitment to her beliefs and her community reflected her genuine character, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Kemp, and her son-in-law, Phillip Kemp. She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Kemp (Jessica), Jennifer Turner (Matt Gann), Leslie Dobbins and Clayton Vickery; and great grandchildren, Jackson G. Kemp, Zoé Turner, Maddi-Jaymes Kemp and Zaine Turner.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Coronaca Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Polatty officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bird Shirley, Mark Hamm, Jacob Burch, Clayton Vickery, Zaine Turner, Jackson Kemp and Jake Watson.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Thursday from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
