Obituary

Ethel Louise Hunter, 89, widow of H. J. Hunter, died Thursday, May 09, 2019 at NHC Health Care.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Pickens and Savannah Strickland Bice. She had worked as a florist while living in Georgia and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.

She was first married to the late Elbert B. Clanton and was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Clanton; her granddaughter, Crystal Clanton; daughter-in-law, Joanne Clanton; sister, Pauline Bryant Smith (C.H.); brother, Buddy Bice and niece, Sandra Enos.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Butler (James) of Ninety Six; a son, Larry Clanton of Greenwood; nieces, Ernestine Bagwell of Simpsonville, Shirley Lowe (Cecil) of Greenwood; Dorcas Long (Russell) of Cayce and Charlene Burden (Jimmy) of Greer; and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Davis and the Rev. James Boling officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Head, Steven Lowe, Chuck Burden, Darren Burden, Jimmy Burden, Russell Long, and Berriman Bagwell.

Honorary escort will be the members of Greenwood Baptist Church along with Judy Head.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
