Eugene "Pee Wee" Malone Thompson, 87, of Greenwood, widower of Shelby Jean Whitmire Thompson, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Born in Whitmire, he was a son of the late George and Lela Malone Thompson. Eugene was a U. S. Air Force veteran and retired from Monsanto. He enjoyed golfing, picking up pecans, doing yardwork and watching his grandchildren play baseball. "Pee Wee" was a former Mason, a former score keeper for the Master's Golf Tournament, volunteered for Immanuel Lutheran Church Soup Kitchen and was an avid Gamecock fan. He was a member of South Main Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son; a sister and two brothers.

Surviving are his children, Bonnie Michelle Thompson, Aleshia T. Downey (Jeff) and Debbie Terry; a sister, Joyce Wilkerson of Lake Murray, SC; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one on the way.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at South Main Street Baptist Church with the Dr. Toby Frost officiating.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to South Main Baptist Church, PO Box 1093, Greenwood, SC 29648.
