Evelyn Russell Cary, 90, of 1110 Marshall Road, formerly of Louisville, KY, widow of Arthur Cary, died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Hospice House. Born on July 7, 1919 in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Sinclair Merrell Russell and Jean Goldthwaite Russell. Mrs. Cary graduated from University of Kentucky and volunteered for over 50 years with the American Red Cross including time over seas during WWII in Scotland, England and Germany. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Woman�s Club of Louisville. Mrs. Cary was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Louisville, KY, where she was an Elder and a Stephen Minister. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and by a sister, Jean Russell Bloch. Surviving are two sons: Henry Russell Cary (Elizabeth) of Greenwood and William Graddy Cary (Derek Flynn) of New York, NY; a daughter, Jean Marie Cary (George Danser) of Durham, NC; a brother, William Faulkner Russell (Catherine) of Bradenton, FL; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Cary Logan (Matthew) of Greenwood and Ellen Burnett Cary of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons, Eric Andrew Danser of Durham, NC and Matthew Whitfield Danser of Austin, TX; two great grandsons, Henry Tolbert Logan and James Whitfield Logan, both of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
