Evelyn Gillian Hazel, 84, of 342 Edgewood Drive, Abbeville, and formerly of Siloam Church Road, Greenwood, widow of Hubert Franklin Hazel, died Thursday, September 17, 2009. Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late James Alvin and Ophelia Butler Gillian. She was retired as a dietician from Greenwood Nursing Home and served as a volunteer with the Bowers-Rodgers Re-Sale Store. She was a member of the Greenwood Wesleyan Church and the Bethel Sunday School Class. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Campbell and her husband, Ronny, of Abbeville; two sisters, Nora G. Purvis of West Virginia and Nancy G. Hanley of Athens, GA; five grandchildren, including Trevor C. McNure, who was the apple of her eye; seven great grandchildren and a special friend, Effie Dorn. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Edward Hazel.
