Florence Elliott Matthews, 80, widow of Andrew Cauthen Matthews, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Born in Greenwood on November 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Daniel Elliott, Sr. and Desdemona King Elliott. She attended Lander College and retired from Parke-Davis. She was a member of Lupo United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Dana Crenshaw and her husband, Roger, and Debbie Smathers and her husband, Jerry, all of Greenwood; two sons, Michael Matthews of Grand Rapids, MI and Tim Matthews and his wife, Rhonda, of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, who all referred to her as �GanGan�, Ian Smathers and Paige Walden, both of Greenwood, Jason Crenshaw, Robin Crenshaw and Matthew Crenshaw, all of Athens, GA, Melissa Matthews of Bryson City, NC and Graham Matthews of Greenwood; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, some who called her �Aunt Pants�. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Rush and two brothers, Joe Dan Elliott, Jr. and Mack Elliott.
