Floy Derrick Brooks, 90, of 211 Hwy 246 North, widow of Furman Lee Brooks, died Monday, June 19, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Fredrick Derrick and Lillie Huffstetler Derrick. Floy was a graduate of Newberry High School and retired from Monsanto after working twenty-two years. She was well known for making her wonderful macaroni and cheese and was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she was in the choir and a former Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Brooks, who was killed during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are three children, Linda Jones (Jerry) of Saluda, Annette Moore (John) and Roy Brooks (Brenda), both of Greenwood; two sisters, Frances Wicker and Marlene Moore, both of Newberry; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at The Connection-formerly Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Elmore and Rev. Phillip Howle officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Brooks, Joshua Brooks, Michael Stuart, Ben Meredith, Sr., Chuck Brock, Scott Crouch, Benji Leaphart and Lyn Stuart.

Honorary escort will be Joanne Scott, Hazel Wideman, Diane Harrison, Janelle Jones and Olivia Brooks.

The family will receive friends before the service in the social hall from 1 to 2 pm.
