Floyd Moore, Sr., 89, of 764 Watts Bridge Road, Cross Hill, widower of Daisy Rowe Moore, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at Hospice House, Greenwood.
Born on August 21, 1926 in Edgefield, he was a son of the late Cal and Pearlie Mae Thompson Moore. He was retired from Lydia Mills in Clinton and was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a member of the choir, custodian and sexton of the cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, James C. "Mo" Moore; sisters, Willie Mae Sanders, Judy Jenkins and Lorene Bussey; brothers, J. C. Moore and Leon Moore and a great grandson, Myles Scott Mayfield.
Surviving is a son, Floyd Moore, Jr. (Anita) of Cross Hill; his daughter, Carolyn Coursey (Jim) of Greenwood; sisters, Mary Sue Hill of Cross Hill, Effie McDowell of Edgefield, Margaret Godfrey and Janie Lee Godfrey (Junior), both of Woodruff; grandchildren, Brandon Moore (Dena) of Fountain Inn, Josh Moore (Andrea) of Rock Hill, Chris Moore (Missy) of Clinton, Will Moore (Alexis) of Greenville and Melissa Mayfield (Barry) of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Madison Mayfield, Cameron Schultz, Cayden Schultz and Taylor Moore, all of Greenwood, Brooke Moore of Fountain Inn, Harrison Moore and Graycen Moore, both of Clinton and Aspen Moore of Greenville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethabara Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Suttles, the Rev. Robert Dorn and the Rev. Jason Martin officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ty Werts, J. T. Gilbert, F. L. McDowell, John McDowell, James McDowell, Mike McDowell, James Moore and Willie Hill.
The family is at the home in Cross Hill and will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
