Frances Brown Brownlee, 79, of Greenwood, widow of Harold "Buddy" Lindon Brownlee, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at her home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Thelma Cole Brown. A proud graduate of McClain High School, Frances went on to pursue her dream of becoming a hairdresser. After graduating from Chris's Beauty School, she found her calling opening Capri Styling Salon, where she owned and operated with devotion for over thirty years. Her expertise and talents brought joy to many along with numerous awards. Later, she continued her career at JCPenney, retiring after 12 fulfilling years.
Frances met her beloved husband in what she fondly described as a whirlwind romance that blossomed in just two weeks. Their love story was a testament to her optimistic nature and joyful spirit. Over the years, Frances cherished every moment spent with her family especially her grandchildren. She was always eager to create lasting memories during annual family trips to Mississippi visiting family and relaxing getaways to Edisto Island.
A devoted member of Laurel Baptist Church for 56 years, Frances was passionate about her faith, finding joy in singing in the choir. Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, hard work, and positivity. She approached each day with a smile, rarely complaining, and shared her laughter and kindness with everyone she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Kate Brown and Thomas H. Brown, Jr.
Surviving are her children, Tammy Brownlee (Michelle), Tracie Price (John Atkinson) and Travis Brownlee (Heather); sister, Patricia B. Busby (Clifton); brother, John Brown (Cindy); grandchildren, Charles "Tres" C. Price, III, Samantha L. Thompson, Kenadie Saylors (Casey), Mattie Brownlee and Poppy Brownlee; a great grandchild on the way; sisters-in-law, Debe Brownlee and Joanne Vickery, Brenda H. Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2pm on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Rogers and Rev. Phillip Howle officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles "Tres" Price, Johnny Busby, Brian Busby, Lamar Busby, Jay Brownlee and Eddie Brown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7pm.
