Obituary

G. Muriel Garrett Chastain, 94, of 106 Dupont Circle, widow of Joshua B. "Ike" Chastain, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Mable Gosnell Garrett. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Harris Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was a member of Hodges Church of God.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl Henderson, Terry Chastain (Glenda), Mark Chastain, Jan Gilliam (Harold), and Pinka Eppley, all of Greenwood; a son-in-law, Ray Sims of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Stephen Gilliam of Irmo, Tony Gilliam (Deanna), Angie Barrett (Tim), both of Greenwood, and Josh Henderson (Alison) of Hodges; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Allison Sims, and a brother, Red Garrett.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Hodges Church of God with the Rev. Earl Quick and the Rev. Charles Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Josh Henderson, Tony Gilliam, Stephen Gilliam, Tim Barrett, Mickey Goodman, and Ricky Chastain.

Honorary escort will be the Hodges Church of God Ladies Sunday school class.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8: 00 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home and Crematory.
