Gail Hawkins Bouknight, of Greenwood, wife of Howard B. Bouknight, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026 at Wesley Commons.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Harrington Lewis "H.L" Hawkins and Ruth Hughey Hawkins.

Gail was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received her R.N. degree from Lander College and her B.S. degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, laying the foundation for a dedicated career of more than 40 years at Self Regional Medical Center. An avid camper, Gail enjoyed spending time with her family at Clarks Hill Campground and treasured her moments at Myrtle Beach camping parks.

A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gail's life was defined by her faith and compassionate service to her community.

In addition to her husband, Howard, she is survived by her daughter, Shannon "Paige" Bouknight Thomas; grandchildren, Ayden Delvin, Olivia Harper Thomas, Brittany Futch (Nick), Daniel Bouknight (Lydia) and great grandchildren, Grayson Futch, Graham Futch, Campbell Futch, Emery Bouknight and Wilson Bouknight.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael "Mike" Barnes Bouknight and an infant brother, who died at birth. 

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Chris Christopher officiaitng. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ayden Delvin, Tony Adams, Sydney Kitchens, Barney Lindley, Daniel Bouknight, Bobby Eleazer and Paul Graddick.

The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
