Gary Fowler, 90, of Greenwood, widower of Ruthie Mae Fowler, passed away October 10, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Greenville on June 4, 1935 , he was the only child of the late Roy Fowler and Christine Lewis Fowler.
Gary served his nation with honor, retiring from the U.S. Air Force after a distinguished 20-year career. Upon returning to civilian life, he continued to live a life rich with purpose and companionship. Gary and his cherished wife shared a deep and inseparable bond, finding joy in doing everything together, especially traveling every chance they got. Their many adventures created a lifetime of cherished memories.
Gary loved watching the Atlanta Braves play and spending time with his late wife in the home they built together.
Above all, Gary loved his family dearly. He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support, always prioritizing their well-being and happiness. His warmth, guidance, and hearty laugh will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Gary was a faithful member of Coronaca Baptist Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community.
He is survived by his children, Loraine Roberts, Laura Goldman, (Kip), and Gary "Eddie" Fowler; grandchildren, Amy Uldrick (Kevin), Ashley Harter (Bo), Micheal Roberts, Dolph Manucy, and Troy Fowler (Yurelia); great grandchildren, Hunter, Jarrod, Haleigh, Kohnor, Newton, Saylor, Micah, and Lia; and four great great grandchildren.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Todd Polatty officiating.
