Gary Paul Lake, Jr., 49, of Waterloo, beloved husband of Heather Painter Lake, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at MUSC.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Gary Paul Lake, Sr. As a respected manager, Gary dedicated much of his career to the retail industry, where he was known for his leadership and ability to motivate those around him. His passion for community service shone brightly during his 15 years as a volunteer fireman with the Hodges Fire Department, where he exemplified selflessness and bravery. Gary was a passionate collector of Star Wars memorabilia and found joy in attending flea markets, building things with his hands and deer processing. He had a natural talent for leading and advising others, always eager to share his knowledge and experience. But above all, Gary cherished his family, always putting them first in his life. Even in passing, Gary continued to care for others by giving the gift of life through organ donation.
Surviving in addition to his wife and his father are his children, Christen "CeCe" Roberts (Alex), Bryant Lake, Ellen Lake, Brianna Callaway (Blason) and Aleigh Cook; siblings, Tonya Gleaton, David Lake and James Lake; and grandchildren, Nick Roberts, Colt Callaway and Mason Callaway.
Services will be held at 2PM on Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Painter officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1-2pm at the funeral home.
