Obituary

Eugene "Geno " Mabro Owings, 75, of 133 Lazy O Ranch Road, husband of Frances Winona Stone Owings, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Homer Benelee Owings and Mattie Thelma White Owings. Geno was a former insurance salesman, worked in maintenance with Parke Davis and was a farmer. He enjoyed music and playing with the band, Carolina Drifters. Geno was a member of the Greenwood Moose Club and was a very spiritual man. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Benelee Owings and Harry Algie Owings; and two grandchildren, Tashu Rushton and Thomas Robert Owens. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his daughters, Angela Owings Maddox (John), Donna Owings Price, Vickie Collins (Kim), Joyce Gauvin (Roland), Bonnie Todd, all of Greenwood, Janet Rushton (Bo) of Ninety Six and Cindy Laughlin (Howard) of Abbeville; a sister, Thelma Marie Gable (Claude) of Greenwood; a brother, Andrew Lee Owings, Sr. (Hari) of Myrtle Beach; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers and honorary escort will be the past and present members of the Carolina Drifters.
