Geoffrey Tanner Owen, born December 22, 1996, in Greenwood, passed away on July 11, 2026, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Tanner’s passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched during his nearly 30 years.
Tanner was the beloved son and nephew of Trina Moore Owen and Shanon Moore Young, who supported him unfailingly through every phase of his life. He was a cherished son to Gerry Todd Owen, brother to Hunter Owen and Adriana, as well as to Gerry Todd Owen, Jr.. Tanner’s family circle extended to his cousins Bradly Owen, Brandon Owen, and Journey Winter Owen, all sharing in the bonds of camaraderie and love that defined their connection.
He is also remembered by his uncles, Jasper Young and Michael Owen (Cindy), whose guidance and affection were meaningful pillars in Tanners’ life. Grandparents Roger and Linda Moore, and Elaine Brown remain among those who mourn Tanner's passing, remembering him with pride and tenderness.
Tanner’s life was brightened by the enduring friendships he fostered over the years. Friends such as Shane Crissman, Duncan Passmore, Matthew Donnelly and Chris Brown reflect on many memories made together and the unique ways Tanner brought joy and understanding to those around him. Currently he was employed as a server at Waffle House in Clinton and was previously employed at the O’Dell Corporation – W.S..
Though Tanner’s journey was not without sorrow, as he was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Tyler Black, Uncle Brian Owen and grandfathers Douglas Owen and Doug Harden, his legacy endures in the hearts and lives of those who survive him. The loss of Tanner leaves a space that can never be filled, but the love, humor, and kindness he showed will remain a guiding light to his family and friends.
A funeral service honoring Tanner Owen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 16, 2026, visitation will be one hour prior to services at Gethsemane Church, located at 5010 US-25, Hodges, SC 29653. Family, friends, and all who wish to pay their respects are invited to attend and celebrate Tanner’s life and the lasting impact he had on everyone around him.
Tanner’s memory will forever live on, cherished by all who knew and loved him.
