George Frank Smith, Jr., 82, of 102 Settlers Drive, husband of Madeline Cullum Smith died Friday, August 3, 2018, at Hospice House.
Born on June 3, 1936 in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late George Frank Smith, Sr. and Lois Allgood Smith. He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1958 and was the president of Cullum Electric & Mechanical, Inc. for over 30 years before retiring in 2008. He served in the US Marine Corps Reserve and was a member of First Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher and a devoted member of the Timms Sunday School Class.
George is survived by his wife of 57 years; his sons, Wade Smith (Amye) of Greenwood and Jim Smith (Kimberely) of Rockwall, TX; his sister, Helen Lee of Anderson; his brother, Jerre Smith of Killeen, TX; three grandchildren, Michael Watkins (Lacy) of Mesquite, TX, Cullum Smith (Caitlin) of Hoboken, NJ and Mabrey Sledge (Kyle) of Charlotte; and three great grandchildren, Makynlee Watkins, Augustine Smith and Rylee Sledge.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Inurnment will be private.
The family will receive friends at their home following the service.
