George W. Smith, 61, of 604 Townsend Road East, Hodges, husband of Dorothy Jean Simmons Smith, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Roy and Etta Mae Sellers Smith. George retired from Greenwood Auto Salvage Yard and was a sponsor of the Hardwood Cruisers Motorcycle Club.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Sprouse and a brother, Vernon Smith, Sr.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, James Smith and George L. Smith, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Maude Bell of Promise Land and Diane Smith of Matthews, GA; three brothers, Don Smith (Helen), Roy Smith (Billie Ann), both of Greenwood and John Smith (Gertrude) of Hodges; and five grandchildren, Nevaeh Greatorex, Ashton Smith, Shey-dan Smith, A. J. Smith and Will Smith.
Services will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be James Smith, George Smith, Vernon Smith, William Alverson, Jerry Alverson and Kenneth Westmoreland.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1-3 pm.
