Georgia Mae Jorgenson Britton Kelton, 89, of Chappells, widow of George Kelton and Lester L. Britton, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Spring Valley, WI she was a daughter of the late Peter and Freida Wilson Jorgenson. Georgia was a cross-country trucker with her first husband, Lester. Some of her favorite things were country music, reading, animals (chickens, birds, and goats), playing games, and crafting. One thing she was proud of was raising a rooster, who became one of the South Carolina Gamecocks' mascot, Sir Big Spur. Georgia was a loving and giving lady, who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Above all she loved her family unconditionally.
She is survived by her children, Linda Britton, Nancy Gines (Ed), and Ken Britton (Chris); daughter-in-law, Brenda Britton; sister, Darlene Schmaltz; grandchildren, Jeremy, Richard, Peter, Kelly, Randy, Mandi, Rena, and Sarah; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, who all loved her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Britton of sixty-four years; second husband, George Kelton; sons, Lee Britton and Danny Britton; daughter, Pamela Britton; brothers, Richard "Dick" Jorgenson and Lee Jorgenson; and a granddaughter, Christina Childers.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnnie Waller officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
