Georgia Eugenia Harper Kent, 90, of Hodges, widow of Reverend Edgar John Kent, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her home.

Born in Pulaski County, IN, she was a daughter of the late John Ganes Harper and Sophia Lenora Winter Harper. Georgia was a devoted Pastor's wife, where she and Rev. Kent pastored many churches, numerous IPCC churches in Michigan including, The Gospel Lighthouse in Hartford, MI for over twenty-five years and Beach Pentecostal Church in Virgina Beach, VA for four years before retiring in South Carolina to be with family, where they attended numerous churches as well, including, Hodges Church of God, North Greenwood Church of God, Greenwood Assembly of God, and New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved all their churches and church families. Georgia was also the director at Co-Op Ministries, a foster parent, and taught and played piano at many of the churches she attended. She enjoyed reading as well as listening to audio books; was a great cook; and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Wakefield (Randal), David Kent, Linda Groff (Daniel), Cindy Kent, and Steven Kent; and grandchildren, Scott Wakefield, Jenny Wakefield, Andrew Wakefield, Kimberly Rogers (Samuel), Angela Burdette (Patrick), Rachel Price (Ritchie), Joshua Groff, Jacob Kent, Samantha Kent, David Cheshire (Leah); and great grandchildren, Natalie, Ava, Leah, Brice, Hayley, Layla, Tripp, Timothy, Elliott, Winifred, Rowan, Ayden, Hannah, Rosie, and Aliza.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Sorrels and four brothers, Leslie J. Harper, Donald Harper, Edwin Harper, and Kenneth Harper.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Shannon Truelove officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
