Gertrude Motes Garland, 77, formally of 113 Richardson Drive, widower of Les Garland, died June 8, 2013, at NHC of Greenwood. Born in Joanna, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Motes and Effie Morgan Motes. Gertrude was a school bus driver and she was a member of Lydia Mill Church of God in Clinton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Valeria Teasley and Joyce Motes; and a brother, George �Bud� Motes. Surviving are five sons, Philip (Katie) Garland and Charles (Melissa) Garland, both of Laurens, Ronald (Nancy) Hunt, of Clinton, Ronnie (Susie) Allen, of Greenwood, and Edward (Anita) Coyles, of PA; one daughter, Diane (Billy Ray Etters) Garland, of Laurens; one brother, George Motes, of Newberry; two sisters Juanita Vanderford, of Greenwood and Mary (Ray) Leopard, of Cross Hill; fifteen grand children; and ten great grand children. The family is at the home of her nephew, Curtis Teasley, 11743 Hwy 72, Greenwood, SC.
