Gilbert Edward Speed, 73, of 569 Whitten Road, Waterloo, SC, husband of Cheryl Cardinale Speed, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, SC. Born in Auburn, NY, he was a son of the late Frances �Frank� Speed and Lois Wilson Dwello. He was retired from John Thurston Construction and was a member of the Greenwood Moose Club #1654 and Cedarwood Community Church. Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters, Jessica Colvin (Rich) of Greenville, SC and Tina Bott (Jon) of Palm Bay, FL; two sons, E. J. Speed of Greenville, SC and Duke Speed (Kim) of Annapolis, MD; three sisters, Anna Chilson, Viola Feeney and Joan Knapp, all of New York; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Walker; eight brothers and sisters.
