Obituary

Gordon Allan Warner, resident of Wesley Commons, husband of Ruth P. Warner passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Born on March 16, 1925 in Schenectady, NY, he was a son of the late Anna Mae Burger Warner and George H. Warner. Gordon was a transport plane pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II and flew many missions of the �hump� route from Burma to China. He was awarded three Air Medals, Chinese Pilots Wings by the Chinese Air Force and the War Memorial Medal by the government of the Republic of China. He was a graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, NY, with a BS degree in Economics. He was employed for 20 years in financial management and data processing by the Behr-Manning Co., Troy, NY. He later moved into healthcare and retired as Vice President of St. Peter�s Hospital in Albany, NY. He was active in the Hump Pilots Association, Kiwanis, computer organizations and as a president of the Systems and Procedures Association. His lifetime hobby was gardening, especially planting and maintaining trees and flowers. He was a member of Greenwood First Presbyterian Church. Prior to moving to Greenwood, he was a member of the Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Warner. Gordon will be greatly missed by his surviving family: Ruth, his loving wife of 62 years, daughters Christine Vanderhorst of Atlanta, GA and Linda Houle of Champlain, NY; son Scott Warner of Boston, MA; grandchildren Jason, Barry and Justin Vanderhorst, Courtney Penhallegon, Carey Fox and Megan and Katie Houle; six great-grandchildren; and nieces Sandra Warner, Barbara Labas and Bonnie Nava.
