Rufus Harold Kennemore, 88, of 124 Park Street, Ninety Six, widower of Eloise Morton Kennemore, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at HospiceCare of the Piedmont.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Rufus Lawrence and Mae Bagwell Kennemore. He retired from Greenwood Mills, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He served in the US Navy from 1946 – 1948 and was a member of Eureka Lodge #47 AFM and the USS Missouri Battleship Association. Mr. Kennemore was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and the Elderberries Senior Group.
Surviving are his son, H. Mike Kennemore (Teressa) of Saluda; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Kennemore of Winder, GA; a sister, Frances Rainey of Greenville; ten grandchildren, Tricia Wood (Bill Cain) of Greenwood, Angie Fortner (Al), Mandy Hess (Marc), and Ethan Kennemore, all of Ninety Six, Michael Kennemore (Jennifer) of Saluda, and Matthew Kennemore (Megan) of Simpsonville; Holly Hall (Scott) of Woodstock, GA, Jennifer Burnette (Ryan) of Anderson, Hannah Powell (John) of GA, Holly Burt of Winder, GA, and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Tony Kennemore.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marc Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Kennemore, Michael Kennemore, Matthew Kennemore, Ethan Kennemore, Al Fortner, Marc Hess, Bill Cain, and Doug Hastings.
Honorary escort will be members of the Elderberries, Spanky Baer, and Bobby Stoudemire.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
