Obituary

Harriet W. Lathren, 98, of Greenwood, widow of Louis Lathren, passed away on October 6, 2026 at Self Memorial Hospital.

Born in Newberry, SC, she was a daughter of the late William M. Willingham, and Ethel Bouknight Willingham.

Her faith was at the very heart of who Harriet was. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a devoted member of West Side Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended Sunday School and remained an active part of her church family. Her love for the Lord was evident not only in her words, but in the way she lived her life.

For many years, Harriet lovingly cared for her home and family as a homemaker. She found meaning in the simple blessings of everyday life and in making a home filled with love.

Harriet spent the last 10 years as a resident of Emerald Gardens, where she became part of a community that was blessed to know her. She will be remembered most for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons; Stan Lathren, and Terry Lathren, brothers; Billy R. Willingham, and Dendy C. Willingham Sr., brother in law , Billy T Davis.

She is Survived by her daughter in law, Kathy Lathren, sisters; Rita Douglass, and Clara Jean Davis, grandchildren; Crystal Autrey (Frankie), Casey Lathren (Caitlin), Lindsey Perez (Vince), Travis Lathren (Stephanie), Nick Lathren, and Dana Lathren, niece, Martha Bagwell (Sam), fourteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2026 in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kyle Richter officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Sam Bagwell, Andrew Douglass, Casey Lathren, Vince Perez, Frankie Autrey, and Jim Lathren.
