Harriet Gail Yochem Wideman, 70, of Greenwood, wife of Moses Ralph Wideman, Jr, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Self Regional Health Care.
Born on June 11, 1955, in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late John Yochem and Margaret Ballard Yochem Boone. Harriet pursued her education at Piedmont Technical College and devoted much of her life to caring for children, with a special affection for infants. Her gentle spirit and warm heart made her a favorite among those she cared for. Aside from her career, Harriet found joy in simple pleasures such as watching game shows, doing word searches, and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family and held a deep fondness for her granddaughters. In her younger years, Harriet enjoyed trips to the beach, and she had a particular admiration for hummingbirds and deer. Harriet was also a passionate sports fan. She cheered enthusiastically for the South Carolina Gamecocks, supporting both football and women's basketball with great spirit. She was a member of Cambridge Methodist Church in Ninety Six,
Harriet is survived by her husband, Ralph; children, Julie Hurley (Jeremy) and Eric Wideman (Amanda); grandchildren, Laney Wideman, Karlie Wideman, Jocee Wideman, and Abby Hurley; sisters Sandra Burden, Peggy Yochem, and Janice Ashley (Alvin); and brother, Gary Yochem (Julie).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Jerry Burden.
A private graveside will be held.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home.
