Harry James Peters, 82, of Cross Hill, widower of Sharon Lee Gerrie Peters, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 at his home.

Born on December 10, 1943 in Skokie, IL, he was the son of the late Richard Peters and Ida Hughes Peters. 

Harry  lived a life defined by unwavering faith, joyful service, and an abundant love for his family. A true jack of all trades in his early years, Harry tried his hand at many crafts before answering a higher calling to missionary work and ministry. Whether delivering a message from the pulpit or serving those in need, he dedicated his life to sharing hope and compassion with everyone he met.

Harry’s heart for service extended far beyond his traditional ministry. An exceptional cook, he spent over 25 years preparing meals both at home and at Bible school, nourishing countless body and soul connections with his legendary meals and warm hospitality. He was also a driven, natural entrepreneur who owned and operated multiple small businesses throughout his lifetime, bringing creativity and grit to every venture he touched.

When he wasn't working or ministering, Harry found peace and satisfaction in the quiet crafts of life. He was a gifted woodworker who spent endless hours building beautiful cabinets, and he delighted in spending time in his garden.

Above all his achievements, family was Harry’s central focus and his absolute greatest joy. He measured his life's wealth not in business successes, but in the laughter shared around the dinner table and the deep bonds he nurtured with those he loved most.

He is survived by his children, Amy Lange (Gary), Kelly Holeman (Russ), James Peters (Tina), and Brian Peters (Allison); grandchildren, Morgan, Zackary, and Jaden Peters, Kaylee Carress (Paul), and Janaya Ellis (Desmond); great grandchildren, Evelina, Luna, Ophelia, Theseus, and Tekoah Carress; and many other friends and family. 

In addition to his loving wife, Sharon, and parents, Richard and Ida, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Nekoda Holeman.
