Helen Ruth Hastings Hawkins,79, of Greenwood, wife of Joe Michael Hawkins, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026.
Born on February 6, 1947, Helen was the daughter of the late Clyde Richardson Hastings and Ruby Christine O’Kelley Hastings.
Throughout her life, Helen had a caring heart and dedicated herself to helping others as a caregiver. She was known for her compassion, gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
Helen was a member of New Market Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She found great joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a passion for flowers, fashion, jewelry, collecting fine China, and searching for treasures while antiquing. Her appreciation for beauty and history was reflected in the collections and memories she created throughout the years.
Above all else, Helen treasured her family. She was a loving mother who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and delighted in doting on them. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Helen’s memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her caring spirit.
She is survived by her daughters, Candice Lee (Mark), Dawn Collins, Patience Payne, and Crystal Hipp (Wade); sisters, Karen Arnold, and Sandi Kelley (Scott); brothers, Tommy Hastings and Doug Hastings, twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharla Collins; two sisters, Janice Hastings and Brenda Summey.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at New Market Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
