Helen Vonbora �Boe Boe� Kirby Hearn, widow of Asa Woodrow Hearn, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Hospice House. Born December 16, 1914 in Anniston, AL, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Louis and Nellie Jane Coupland Kirby. She attended Calhoun County public schools and made All State in girl�s basketball. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State Teachers College with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She spent over 40 years teaching in Dekalb County and Marshall County. She was twice in the final five candidates for Alabama State Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Hearn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albertville, AL, an original member of Crossville Women�s Club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. After moving to Greenwood in 1992, she became a member of the Greenwood Women�s Club and The Tulip Club. She attended West Side Baptist Church. Mrs. Hearn was an avid bridge player, traveler and sports fan, who loved the Atlanta Braves. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Kirby and Becky Hearn of Greenwood; her grandson, his wife and daughter, John, Ashley and Caroline Hearn of Charleston and her granddaughter, Amanda Hearn and her fianc�, Brian Biek of Chapel Hill, NC.
