Helen Shealy Taylor, 82, of 401 Clairmont Drive, widow of Jack Z. Taylor, Sr., died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Leesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Carey Shealy, Sr. and Bertha Taylor Shealy. Helen was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was a teacher at Mt. Zion Institute in Winnsboro and was also the basketball coach. Helen also taught and was the basketball coach at Manning High School and was a teacher at Northside Jr. High School. She was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, in the Druid Hills Coffee Club and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, Zack Taylor of Lexington, Todd (Regina) Taylor of Atlanta, GA and Jeff (Mary) Taylor of Florence; a daughter, Lisa (Don) Getty of Nashville, TN; and five grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Erin Taylor, both of Atlanta, GA, Ryan Taylor, Mark Taylor, both of Florence, and Laurel Getty of Nashville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carey Shealy, Jr. and Bryce Shealy. Memorials may be made to Bowers-Rogers Home, PO Box 1252, Greenwood, SC 29648.
